Please read these terms and conditions carefully before engaging the services of SAS Yorkshire Accountants Ltd. By instructing us to act on your behalf you agree to be bound by these terms.

These terms and conditions govern the relationship between SAS Yorkshire Accountants Ltd and our clients. By engaging our services you agree to these terms in full.

Our Services

SAS Yorkshire Accountants Ltd provides professional accountancy, taxation, payroll, bookkeeping, VAT, and related financial advisory services to individuals, sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies across the UK.

The specific services we will provide to you will be set out in an engagement letter issued at the start of our working relationship. These terms and conditions apply to all services we provide unless otherwise agreed in writing.

  • Self assessment tax returns and personal taxation.
  • VAT registration and returns including Making Tax Digital compliance.
  • Payroll services including PAYE, RTI, and auto enrolment.
  • Bookkeeping and management accounts.
  • Corporation tax returns and company accounts.
  • Tax investigation and HMRC enquiry support.
  • Computerised accounting software setup and support.
  • International client taxation and cross-border advice.

Engagement and Instructions

Our engagement with you begins upon receipt of a signed engagement letter and completed anti-money laundering identity verification. We will not commence work until these requirements are satisfied.

All instructions must be provided to us in writing or confirmed in writing promptly after a verbal discussion. We will act on the basis of the information and instructions provided to us and cannot be held responsible for errors arising from incomplete or inaccurate information supplied by the client.

We will not act on instructions that we believe to be unlawful, misleading, or in breach of HMRC regulations. We reserve the right to decline or withdraw from an engagement where we have concerns about the legality or accuracy of information provided.

Fees and Payment

Our fees will be agreed with you in advance and set out in your engagement letter. We operate on a fixed fee basis wherever possible so you always know what you will pay.

  • Fees are invoiced upon completion of the agreed work or at agreed interim stages.
  • Payment is due within 14 days of the invoice date unless otherwise agreed.
  • Late payment may result in work being suspended until outstanding amounts are settled.
  • We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue amounts at 8% per annum above the Bank of England base rate in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act 1998.
  • Additional work outside the scope of the engagement letter will be quoted separately and agreed before work commences.
  • Disbursements and third party expenses incurred on your behalf will be recharged at cost.

Client Responsibilities

To enable us to provide our services effectively you agree to:

  • Provide us with complete, accurate, and timely information and documentation as requested.
  • Notify us promptly of any changes to your circumstances that may affect your tax position or our work.
  • Respond to our queries and requests within agreed timeframes to avoid missing HMRC or Companies House deadlines.
  • Review and approve documents prepared on your behalf before submission to HMRC or other authorities.
  • Retain your own copies of all financial records and correspondence.
  • Cooperate fully with any anti-money laundering and know your client verification requirements.

SAS Yorkshire Accountants Ltd cannot be held responsible for penalties, interest, or other consequences arising from your failure to provide information or approvals within required timeframes.

Confidentiality

We treat all client information as strictly confidential. We will not disclose your information to any third party without your consent except where we are required to do so by law, regulation, or professional obligation including:

  • Disclosure to HMRC as required by your tax affairs and our agent authorisation.
  • Disclosure to Companies House for statutory filing requirements.
  • Disclosure required under anti-money laundering legislation.
  • Disclosure to our professional indemnity insurers where required.

Our confidentiality obligations continue after the end of our engagement with you.

Anti-Money Laundering

SAS Yorkshire Accountants Ltd is subject to the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds Regulations 2017. As a result we are required to:

  • Verify the identity of all clients before commencing work using acceptable forms of identification.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring of our client relationships.
  • Report any suspicions of money laundering or terrorist financing to the relevant authorities.
  • Maintain records of identity verification for a minimum of five years.

We are unable to commence work until satisfactory identity verification has been completed. In certain circumstances we may be legally prohibited from informing you that a report has been made to the authorities. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

Limitation of Liability

SAS Yorkshire Accountants Ltd will provide our services with reasonable skill and care. However our liability to you is subject to the following limitations:

  • Our total liability to you in connection with any engagement shall not exceed the fees paid by you for the specific service giving rise to the claim.
  • We shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or special loss arising from our services.
  • We shall not be liable for losses arising from your failure to provide accurate or complete information.
  • We shall not be liable for losses arising from your failure to act on our advice within required timeframes.
  • Any claim against us must be notified in writing within six years of the date on which the relevant work was completed.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by our negligence.

Intellectual Property

All materials, documents, reports, and advice produced by SAS Yorkshire Accountants Ltd in the course of providing our services remain our intellectual property until all outstanding fees have been paid in full.

The content of our website including text, images, logos, and design is the property of SAS Yorkshire Accountants Ltd and may not be reproduced, copied, or distributed without our prior written consent.

Termination

Either party may terminate the engagement by giving reasonable written notice. We consider one month to be reasonable notice in most circumstances.

We reserve the right to terminate the engagement immediately and without notice where:

  • You fail to pay fees when due and do not remedy this within 14 days of a written reminder.
  • You provide us with false, misleading, or incomplete information.
  • We have reasonable grounds to suspect involvement in money laundering or other illegal activity.
  • Continuing the engagement would place us in breach of our professional obligations.

Upon termination all outstanding fees become immediately payable. We will return your records and documents upon settlement of all outstanding fees.

Complaints Procedure

We are committed to providing a high quality service to all our clients. If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service please contact us in the first instance so we can resolve the matter promptly.

How to Make a Complaint

Step 1 — Contact us directly at [email protected] or call 0330 133 6275 explaining the nature of your complaint.
Step 2 — We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and aim to resolve it within 28 days.
Step 3 — If you remain dissatisfied you may be entitled to refer your complaint to our professional body.

Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
